The Sixth Sense Pitch Day event proved to be an exciting moment. We heard from 13 passionate and ambitious innovators, all working on potentially transformative solutions in the smart manufacturing space.

The quality of the pitches gave our panel of expert judges a difficult task in choosing just seven, but after much deliberation, we now have our first cohort of scaling start-ups. Let’s meet them!

  1. Martin Peterek, IconPro: Software which enables companies around the world to turn production data into sustainable value and growth.

“We are your partner for artificial intelligence, machine learning and data mining in production! Our software enables companies around the world to turn production data into sustainable value and growth. The IconPro solution merges state-of-the-art Machine Learning Operations for unstructured data with deep domain expertise. The software is a no-code platform designed as intuitive as possible and is not requiring any deeper Data Science knowledge of the user – “Click this! Click that! You are done!””

2. Peter Chein, SmartUQ: The premier supplier of Machine Learning (ML) software optimally designed for science and engineering applications.

“SmartUQ is the premier supplier of Machine Learning (ML) software optimally designed for science and engineering applications. By providing powerful tools and highly accurate ML models with user-friendly GUIs and APIs, SmartUQ software makes it easy to perform predictive modeling, optimized sampling, uncertainty quantification, and model calibration. From Fortune 500 manufacturers to startups and engineering consulting firms, SmartUQ’s best in class predictive modeling accuracy helps our customers go beyond analysis to bring uncertainty into the decision-making process.”

3. Alex Sobral de Freitas, Eyeflow AI: The No-Code SaaS platform to enable anyone to build Computer Vision applications with AI in a simple, fast and intuitive way

“Eyeflow is a No-Code SaaS platform to enable anyone to build Computer Vision applications with AI in a simple, fast and intuitive way. We democratize Artificial Intelligence.”

4. Paul Boris, Praemo: Razor™ ingests data as-is from automation, quality, historian, maintenance, and other manufacturing systems delivering differentiating insights to drive next level Continuous Improvement.

“Even in world-class operations, there are significant opportunities to improve throughput, cost, and productivity. Continuous improvement leveraging data visibility and business intelligence has plateaued. And while machine learning offers a path to a step change in performance and competitive advantage, the current ML solutions are not working for industrial operations. Praemo’s approach makes machine learning a competitive advantage for industrial operations. Razor™ ingests data as-is from automation, quality, historian, maintenance, and other manufacturing systems delivering differentiating insights to drive next level Continuous Improvement. No data science teams needed, leverage Razor™ immediately for predictive maintenance, predictive quality, and continuous process optimization.”

5. Cody Burke, SmartParts: Enabling organizations to unlock the full potential of additive manufacturing by introducing an intelligent material that is scannable, traceable, and cloud-connected.

“PrintParts is an additive manufacturing service and technology development company. The company is developing SmartParts as a solution to manage, authenticate, and track additive materials and parts throughout their lifecycle. SmartParts technology enables organizations to unlock the full potential of additive manufacturing by introducing an intelligent material that is scannable, traceable, and cloud-connected. Additive manufacturing services include prototyping and production of end-use parts and SmartParts, using a wide range of additive technologies and industrial materials.

 6. Jose Castellanos, SMARTPM: An engineering company focused on smart automation and optimisation of industrial processes, based on in-depth knowledge of industrial and metrology processes.

SMARTPM is an engineering company focused on smart automation and optimisation of industrial processes, based on in-depth knowledge of industrial and metrology processes. MIC by SMARTPM is our new automation software platform. It integrates our knowledge of processes and metrology to connect assets and people, orchestrate workflows, manage the production autonomously, integrate inspection “in the loop” and apply process knowhow, analytics and machine learning to optimize productivity and quality (feedback loop). We’re aiming to reinforce autonomy and self improving processes generating  20% unitary cost reduction, improved overall quality, 50% improvement in installed capacity usage, 30% improvement in OEE and lead time reduction.”

7. Jan Buechsenschuetz, RIIICO: Bringing factories into the 21st century with a collaborative planning platform that disrupts how managers visualize their physical spaces and equipment.

“We bring factories into the 21st century with a collaborative planning platform that disrupts how managers visualize their physical spaces and equipment. Utilizing large-scale 3D scanning and proprietary AI, we’re able to quickly generate push-button, fully interactive models of actual facilities that guarantee accurate data access to every stakeholder involved. Just as Figma brought user interface design to a whole new base of users, RIIICO is going to be the platform of choice when people collaborate on reality 3d data. Five years from now, not only manufacturing plants will rely on RIIICOs models but also all retail stores, public infrastructure and corporate offices around us.”

It seems we’re in very good company as we move forward with the Sixth Sense open innovation platform. A huge thanks to each and every company that applied and pitched – we were blown away by the response and a huge congratulations to our winners. We’re super excited to get to know you even better and see what we can do together. WATCH THIS SPACE.
